The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) mourns the passing of Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, a proud alumnus whose life embodied discipline, intellect, and national service.
Peter Anala began his academic journey at KNUST in 2008, pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering. Even as he mastered the intricacies of systems and software, his aspirations extended beyond the lab toward the skies. After completing his undergraduate studies in 2012, he answered a higher calling to serve Ghana through aviation and military leadership.
His pursuit of excellence led him through rigorous military and flight training, culminating in a distinguished career as a pilot in the Ghana Air Force. Yet, Anala remained committed to academic growth. In 2021, he returned to KNUST to pursue a Master of Science in Air Transport and Aviation Management, deepening his expertise in aviation systems, safety, and strategic planning.
Peter’s dedication to learning continued beyond our campus. At the time of his passing, he was enrolled in a postgraduate program in Safety and Accident Investigation in the United Kingdom, an extension of his lifelong commitment to making aviation safer and more effective.
On August 6, 2025, Squadron Leader Anala tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash while on official duty. He was piloting a Z-9 aircraft as part of a national mission, exemplifying the values of courage, service, and professionalism that defined his career.
He leaves behind a young family, a grieving nation, and a legacy that KNUST proudly upholds. His story reminds us that education is not merely a path to personal achievement but a foundation for leadership, sacrifice, and impact.
We honor Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala not only for his accomplishments but for the integrity with which he lived. May his memory continue to inspire generations of KNUST students to serve with excellence and soar with purpose.
